I have taken a few days away from the knitting needles, resting my tired fingers, whilst enjoying some quality time with my children. I thought you might like to see this amazing shot taken in Italy in 1944, showing Drivers of the French Ambulance Corps close to the fighting zone, relaxing with their knitting. On the right you can see the set of 'The Adventures of Mr Toad' performed by the touring theatre company Transition. I took the children to see the production and they loved the amazing James Cotter as Mr Toad...we laughed as the judge, perched on the top of a step ladder, knitted whilst listening to Mr Toad's tale of woe. These photos were taken nearly 70 years apart, but show us that knitting is still part of everyday life.
