I love red shoes!

For years I have loved red shoes but never had the nerve to wear them...that is until now!  On a trip to M&S to buy underpants for myself and school summer dresses for the girls, I spotted a pair of red sneakers on a model at the bottom of the escalator. I was overcome by desire, and before I had time to put on my sensible head they were paid for and in my bag! Actually now that I have them, they don't really seem that red, and I have found that by wearing them with thick blue tights they actually look rather trendy...or so my Doctor told me when I took my daughter in for an appointment today. So armed with my new found trendiness I have decided that I may just splash out on another pair...but which?

Costumes from Downton Abbey

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the Creative Stitches and Hobbycraft Show at Aintree racecourse in Liverpool, from 26-28 April 2012, you can see some of the beautiful costumes from the extremely popular first series of Downton Abbey. Each outfit showcases the lavish period style and includes dresses worn by Dame Maggie Smith (Dowager Countess of Grantham), Elizabeth McGovern (Countess of Grantham), Penelope Wilton (Isobel Crawley) and the three daughters, Lady Mary, Lady Edith and Lady Sybil Crawley. I just love the series, and can't wait for its return in September. What makes the series really special for me is the detail that has been put into every scene: superb acting, fine furnishings, great sets, sumptuous food  as well as exquisite costumes, featuring fine needlework that is sure to get any needlewoman's heart beating faster!

Lesley Evers has yet again come up with a collection that is so wearable. She brings together 50's classic style with a little touch of magic to brings the clothes bang up-to-date. Wish I could buy everything in the collection, but I can only have one...but which one!

Started in 1992 in Pennsylvania USA, Anthropologie now have stores in the UK, a website and a mail order catalogue. If you appreciate innovation, artfulness and good design, you will absolutely love the clothes, shoes and housewares they are offering. It was difficult for me to pick the clothes to post here, as I love so many of the beautiful things they are offering!

wear classic 40's style this Christmas...

These stunning dresses are from an exclusive range for Peacock's by designer Pearl Lowe. Pearl has taken inspiration from rock and pop legends to create a decadent range of vintage inspired dresses from the 40's and 70's. Great deal at the moment - free p&p over £40! As both of the above dresses retail at just £20 each, perhaps I should buy them both!

knitwear made in Scotland

 

I found some wonderful knitwear for the autumn by British designer Jo Gordon. Traditionally made in Scotland from locally spun wool, the spicy colours and soft textures almost make you wish the cold weather had arrived!
